Vegetable  Manegement in late Spring Coldness

In China, it is a phenomenon that the temperature rises rapidly in early spring, but there is a sudden low temperature in the late spring. Cold spring can cause bad effects on rotten roots, dead seedlings, falling flowers and fruits, and early pumping on vegetables.

  • For seedling to improve cold resistance through low temperature and cultivate the root system.

  • Increase insulation facilities. For example, setting up a wind barrier; covering multiple layers of film, or heating furnace,  fumigation, erecting heating bulbs.

  • Pay attention to ventilation; After the vegetables in the greenhouse are frozen, the temperature of the greenhouse cannot be closed immediately, only the temperature of the greenhouse can be slowly increased, and the frozen tissue can be given sufficient time to absorb the moisture dehydrated by the freezing, thereby promoting cell activation and reducing tissue necrosis.

  • Water management. When the "coldness in late spring" comes, vegetable seedlings often suffer from frost damage. Remedies can be taken by shading and spraying water on the vegetables with a sprayer. By increasing the humidity of the air in the shed to stabilize the temperature in the shed and to suppress the dehydration of frostbite vegetable tissues below moderate, and promote the frozen tissues to absorb water.

To avoid the adverse effects of the coldness in late spring for greenhouse crops and prevent from suffering unnecessary losses you should take some measures.
